Â鶹ԭ´´ has issued a response to the House of Lords Adult Social Care Select Committee 'A "gloriously ordinary life": spotlight on adult social care' report.

Â鶹ԭ´´ CEO Oonagh Smyth said:

We gave written evidence to this inquiry that seeks to change the narrative around our sector - which the committee say has been historically relatively invisible despite its significant economic and social contribution. We are pleased that the committee had a clear focus on workforce issues using data from our Adult Social Care Workforce Data Set.

We welcome the committee’s clear commitment to co-production so that people who draw on care are included in the design and delivery of services, and that Integrated Care Systems need to produce a clear strategy on how they plan to engage with adult social care and deliver on its priorities.

The committee also recommended the creation of a comprehensive long-term national workforce and skills plan for adult social care, including a commitment to remedy low pay in the sector, to which we would have much data and insight to contribute, so people who draw on care can be supported to live a ‘gloriously ordinary life’.
